The Catamaran to Split

Illegal parking or overstaying your welcome in Croatia has unpleasant consequences (see first two photos below)
This morning we were met by an excellent guide who took us on a tour of the highlights of the complex history of Hvar.  The Greeks, then the Romans, with some input by the Turks, have left their imprints on the architecture of the city and its monasteries, galleries and churches.  Hvar is a unique city with a beautiful harbour and buildings with carved balconies aka Romeo and Juliet.  On the carvings of a lion, if the tail is raised and/or the lion is holding an open book, this means that the city could be easily invaded and overcome! A dead giveaway to any potential attackers!
We caught a large air-conditioned catamaran (capacity about 450 people) from Hvar city (on Hvar Island) after lunch and travelled on a gentle sea overlooking the azure blue waters to Split where we will stay for two nights in this beautiful hotel WHICH EVEN HAS A LIFT!!
It is still very, very hot.  More soon.

Don't park for too long in a no parking zone !!!

If you do they take your car
The view from the Monastery at Hvar ( only one Monk is left)
The water is so crystal clear that the boat seems to float above the water
The beach has no sand only pebbles and rocks but the locals love it.
The serenity of the waters of Hvar.
